The person behind The Write One
Stefanie Newell is a writing coach and developmental editor who has spent nearly two decades helping first-time nonfiction authors go from idea to finished, published book. She works with authors across 18 nonfiction genres — from memoir and self-help to business, health, and beyond.
She built The Write One because she kept seeing the same problem: first-time authors starting to write before they'd answered the foundational questions. Genre. Reader. Structure. Publishing path. Without those answers, most authors stall out somewhere in the middle of the manuscript — not because they lack the story or the expertise, but because they lack the foundation.
The Write One is that foundation. It's the first thing Stefanie asks every new client to work through — now available free to every first-time author who needs it.
"What Stefanie Newell did for me in five weeks, I couldn't do on my own in two years. She had me view my work three-dimensionally and look for areas of improvement. The reality is, I would have saved myself two years of headaches if I started with Stefanie." — James DeVriendt
Her background
Stefanie began publishing in 2008 and has since built one of the most trusted independent resources for first-time nonfiction authors online. Her YouTube channel, The Life of a Writer, has earned over 6 million views and 63,000 subscribers — making it one of the most-watched channels in its category.
She is the author of How To Write Your First Book, Write The Damn Book!, and several other titles for writers. She has co-authored a book with her late mother, Bernice Harris, who became a published author at 72 — Stefanie's first coaching client and the proof of concept for everything she teaches.
Her coaching program and developmental editing services have helped hundreds of authors write books that actually get finished, published, and read.
